We are at a critical moment in respect of society attitudes towards police and law enforcement and how such necessary reform may proceed. It is not, nor should it ever be a call to defund the police but to demilitarise the police from being effectively a standing army protecting the elites, to living, working and engaging with their local communities; and ceasing to be tax collectors and revenue raisers against the poor and middle class; and focus on crime prevention. This is the only lasting path to local law enforcement reform.
